Our Body mass index calculator is intended for adults (over the age of 18)

The Body Mass Index is used to estimate your total amount of body fat.
An ideal BMI for an adult is between 20 and 25.

Once you have calculated your BMI, you can determine your healthy weight range.

If your BMI is:

  • Under 18 – Very underweight and possibly malnourished.
  • Under 20 – Underweight and could afford to gain a little weight.
  • 20 to 25 – A healthy weight range for young and middle-aged adults.
  • 26 to 30 – Overweight
  • 30 to 35 – Obese.
  • Over 35 – Severely obese

Please note:
BMI does not differentiate between body fat and muscle mass. This means there are some exceptions to the BMI guidelines.
